Shaving Tips For Women
Shaving can be a painful process. Nicks, cuts
and ingrown hairs are just a few of the problems associated with shaving.
We have collected some tips to help you shave quicker and easier.
Shaving Lotions & Gels
Use a quality shaving gel or lotion. They
contain lubricants and moisturizers to reduce friction and skin
irritation. Never use soap. It can work but it may lead to dryness and
skin irritation.
Razors
Choose a quality razor. Those cheap
disposables may not be the best solution. Purchase a quality razor with
replaceable heads. Be sure to replace the blade often. A dull blade will
irritate your skin and cut you.
Preparing Your Skin For Shaving
To prepare your skin for shaving, you need to
hydrate it. Take a shower or quick bath to soften up and relax your hair
before you shave. You will be able to get a closer shave with less
irritation. Do not soak so long that your skin begins to wrinkle.
If possible, shave at night. Shaving removes
dead skin cells which will leave your skin more vulnerable. By shaving at
night, you give your skin time to recover.
Shaving Techniques
For a closer shave, shave in the opposite
direction of hair growth. Use caution however as this can lead to razor
bumps and ingrown hairs. If you shave this way, use a quality shaving gel
and a good razor.
Do not go over any one area too many times.
This can cause irritation.
Rinse your razor often to clear it of cut
hairs. A clean razor will make sharper cuts and cause less irritation.
After Shaving
After you shave your underarms, do not apply
deodorant. Wait at least 45 minutes before applying deodorant. It contains
chemicals which could irritate broken skin.
Do not apply perfumes immediately after
shaving. Your skin needs some time to heal. Wait about an hour.
Apply lotion after shaving. This will help
replace the moisture that your skin lost from shaving. If you experience
any irritation, find a perfume free lotion or you can try baby oil.
